I do this too, especially when I already know the answer. Like somehow the fifth check is going to unlock a secret version of the forecast where the sun felt bad and decided to show up.

When I keep forgetting to put a trash bag back in the bathroom trash can. I notice it every time, get mildly annoyed, then somehow walk away like I didn’t just see it.

It’s strange how you can care about someone and still feel the distance growing. No fight. No big moment. Just… something feels different.
